Individual Psychotherapy

It is not uncommon for people to find themselves experiencing periods of anxiety, panic, depression or sadness. We might be struggling with a specific issue, such as grief, or loneliness, or something else. Our mental health can affect our daily functioning, our sleep, our ability to focus and to make decisions. We can find ourself losing motivation and stuck.

Systemic Psychotherapy offers an evidence based approach to exploring thoughts and experiences. It supports people to identify unconscious motivations, and understand the patterns of thinking and behaving that contribute to them staying stuck. It increases self awareness and also focuses on strengths and resources, to increase resilience.

It is an evidence based approach to working with addictive behaviours, mood related concerns, relationship difficulties, eating disorders, self-harming behaviours, and other issues. It helps us to take charge of our lives,

When should I have therapy?

Many people seek out therapy when they feel uncertain, in crisis, overwhelmed or stuck. In these circumstances, therapy can help people to ground themselves and find a way of settling. They might have difficult thoughts, emotions, or experiences. Exploring these in therapy can help people to work through some of those difficulties to reach a more settled place from which to carry on.

Some people seek therapy when things are more settled, and they are simply trying to make sense of their lives. It can be helpful for people of all ages, and I have worked with people from the very young (aged 5) to much more senior and mature (aged 82). There are no restrictions or right times. If can be helpful for anybody looking to live healthier, happier or more productive lives.
